Associate Director of Web & Digital Strategy

This position is responsible for digital communications, including the University website, internal and external messaging, and social media. The position must work directly with University leadership, faculty, staff, and students to ensure consistent and accurate information is distributed using the most effective digital platform(s) in a timely manner.

Beginning July 1, 2022, this position will report to the senior director of University Marketing and Brand Management under the leadership of the Associate Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.

Job Responsibilities

    • Develops and manages web strategy, including SEO, UX, Slate connectivity, and implementation of best practices.
    • Develop and manage website content, graphic layout, content management and operational systems, ensuring accuracy of content and adherence to governance structure, brand and writing style guides.
    • Manage ADA site standards and ensure site security and other compliance requirements are met.
    • Conduct continuous audits to ensure content and functionality meet audience needs. This includes regular repair of broken links, review of Google Analytics and assessment of user experience.
    • Maintains organized structure for content updates and other technical projects through Asana.
    • Implements University social media strategy and partners with social media managers across the University to ensure brand alignment and to promote best practices.
    • Serve as a partner to Enrollment Marketing and the Enrollment Management division, likely serving on the Slate Steering Committee to ensure technology and site alignment.
    • Supports Strategic Communications, magazine(s), event and publicity needs, and other informational connection points to the web, recommending best practices and options to maximize operational efficiency.
    • Serves as liaison to University Technology Services, and maintains connection to all divisions to ensure alignment with technology resources and ensuring they meet University brand standards.
    • Supervisory responsibility for two full-time staff members in the areas of web and digital technology, including social media.

Requirements

    • Required:
      • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field is required.
      • 5-7 years of professional experience in digital communications including web management, SEO and social media strategy is required.
      • Must demonstrate progress into increased levels of responsibility.
    • Preferred:
      • User experience design, and project management experience preferred.
      • Prior experience in higher education is preferred.
      • Supervisory experience preferred.
      • Master’s degree or other continued education is preferred
