Drexel University’s Office of University Communications seeks a creative, analytical and Web-savvy Digital Content Strategist to oversee content strategy and measurement, as well as the Sitecore Experience Database (xDB) for drexel.edu. Reporting to the Executive Director of Marketing and Digital Strategy, the Digital Content Strategist will be the editor-in-chief responsible for managing, creating and optimizing content on Drexel’s core website using the CMS’s digital marketing suite. This key team member will be the front-door for all content optimization and will work closely with Web Services and IT personnel, as well as external vendors, to ensure that content is written, refined and optimized to serve business goals and KPIs.

The Digital Content Strategist will act as the University lead in owning the development and maintenance of the Sitecore 9 digital marketing suite and will serve as its chief evangelist for marketing and communications staff at Drexel’s 16 colleges and schools.

In addition, the ideal candidate will be an excellent verbal and written communicator and creative thinker with experience managing institutional social media accounts and writing for various marketing channels. This mix of writing ability and marketing acumen will be key to successfully examining all content creation for quality, as well as conversions and other KPIs.

Job Responsibilities

Primarily responsible for developing and managing the Sitecore Experience Database (xDB) for drexel.edu.

Use the xDB to optimize all non-editorial content for SEO, as well as for conversions. Make recommendations to leadership for strategic changes to information architecture.

Act as chief evangelist for the xDB for marketing and communications representatives of Drexel’s schools, colleges and other units. Responsible for documentation and training for collaborators and stakeholders across the university.

Conduct A/B testing to aid in audience research and behavioral targeting to inform marketing tactics.

Contribute copy and strategy to advertising campaigns facilitated by the Office of University Communications.

Liaise with Drexel IT, third party SEO and paid media vendors to achieve team goals.

Aid Drexel’s social media efforts by serving as one of the team’s core account admins and finding novel ways to integrate social media and website content.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, information science, computer science, business analytics, or related major required.

A minimum of five years of experience with a proven record of increased responsibility managing marketing Web content at the institutional level required.

Experience Creating and executing a digital content strategy at the organizational level required.

Experience with multi-site Sitecore installations, as well as Sitecore Experience Platform, or similar automated marketing platforms.

Experience managing content curation and taxonomy within an enterprise CMS.

Exemplary problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Strong working knowledge and understanding of analytics platforms, including Google Analytics and Sitecore xDB.
Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in all aspects of channel development including strategy, digital design, content management, implementation, testing and results analysis.

Superlative verbal and written communications skills. Must be able to write Web copy with an eye for SEO.

Experience managing and reporting on institutional social media accounts. This position will also aid with social media management and reporting.

Exemplary customer service skills; able to digest and articulate cumbersome technical jargon into the vernacular of the layman.

Ability to juggle multiple projects, while owning metrics and making necessary recommendations to leadership to optimize content and uncover novel areas for content enhancements.
