Graduate Assistantship Dates:

Fall 2021 Semester; Spring 2022 Semester (Renewable each semester)

Position Overview:

The Marketing and Communications graduate assistant works with Bloomsburg University’s Office of Marketing and Communications (MarComm) staff on implementation of strategic marketing initiatives to elevate Bloomsburg University’s reputation, manage the brand, and support strategic enrollment and student success initiatives to recruit and retain BU students. The MarComm graduate assistant will function as a member of the MarComm team and serve as an ambassador of Bloomsburg University. The MarComm graduate assistant reports to the Director of Marketing and Brand Management and the AVP of Marketing and Communications. The graduate assistant will be required to work 20 hours per week.

 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Assisting MarComm staff with message/content development for use on web, social media, advertisements, and other marketing collateral; supporting monthly refreshes of paid digital marketing creative including search ads, social ads, and digital display ads to recruit undergraduate and graduate students; creating and regular analysis of analytics dashboard(s) for website and social media engagement; utilizing data visualization to identify trends and support data-informed strategic decisions regarding content, messaging and paid creative to reach target audiences while sharing KPIs and other metrics with leadership and stakeholders; assisting with market research including surveys and focus groups with target audience(s); working with campus partners to develop/edit website (content, photos, videos, storytelling, etc.) as part of ongoing management/maintenance of the university’s main domain and any subdomains; collaborating with Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions and MarComm staff on content for strategic tactics to increase enrollment such as print pieces, emails, social media posts, web content, etc.; supporting the MarComm staff in script writing, video/photo staging, producing and editing to generate photo and video content for web and social media storytelling; supporting MarComm staff in providing event promotion and day-of/post-event coverage including social media; feature storytelling in written and/or video formats; assisting with curating and writing content for e-newsletters including twice weekly communications to students; monthly communications to parents/supporters and twice weekly communications to faculty/staff.

 

Requirements

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Advertising, Mass Communications, Communication Studies, English, or related area is required, and the successful candidate must be accepted into one of Bloomsburg University’s graduate programs. Candidates must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills as well as superior attention to detail. Candidates should be able to demonstrate their ability to manage/prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced work environment both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.  The successful candidate must be committed to acting in a professional manner as an ambassador of Bloomsburg University.  Proficiency in or ability to learn the Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, Google Data Studio and web content editing is preferred. Videography/photography experience is a plus, including knowledge of editing software.

 

Compensation/Benefits:

20 hour/week GA receives a $2,926 stipend and a 6 credit tuition waiver ($3,096 in state and $4,644 out of state)
