Marketing Communications Coordinator

The Marketing Communications Coordinator will develop marketing copy for various Public Relations and Marketing projects. This person will also serve as the Public Relations & Marketing liaison to select departments, coordinating and assisting in the development and implementation of marketing and communications activities.

Job Responsibilities

·         Collaborate with assigned departments to review marketing communication projects and consider established priorities, budgets, policy/procedures, and institutional marketing needs. (Essential)

·         Develop original marketing copy and scripts for a variety of media (including print, web, email, online advertising, social media, video, and others) consistent with institutional brand guidelines and marketing goals. (Essential)

·         Review, edit, and proofread messages and materials to ensure content is accurate and current, and that appropriate College style, standards, and branding issues are addressed. (Essential)

·         Assist with updating web content. (Essential)

·         Assist with the development and execution of marketing and communications campaigns. (Essential)

·         Assist with generating ideas and concepts that result in effective and compelling communications materials and creative marketing campaigns. (Essential)

·         Assist photographers by generating photo shot lists and supporting photo shoot logistics. (Essential)

·         Create production calendars for individual projects as well as comprehensive departmental plans for annual projects to ensure timely delivery of materials. (Essential)

·         Work with designers and developers (in all media) to develop creative, effective materials and messages that reflect institutional branding and marketing goals. (Essential)

·         As appropriate, review media kit information, make recommendations based upon budget and audience, and ensure specifications are met. (Essential)

·         Work with assigned departments to track and report results of selected marketing communications in order to assess return on investment for marketing resources. (Essential)

·         Work with administrative and support staff to ensure marketing communications projects are developed effectively and efficiently to meet established goals within available resources. (Essential)

·         Provide training and assistance to support staff in assigned departments to help them develop materials and website content that meets College styles and standards and to help them process requests appropriately to meet policies regarding publicity and promotion. (Essential)

·         As requested, attend marketing meetings with supervisor and school representatives to collect information and data on new or revised programs and work with supervisor to develop and implement a marketing action plan. (Marginal)

Requirements

Minimum education and experience includes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communication, or related discipline
  • Two (2) years of experience creating, writing, and editing marketing copy
  • Two (2) years of relevant work experience in an environment where meeting deadlines and maintaining schedules was a job requirement
  • Previous experience working with designers, printers, and/or online publishers.

 

Minimum abilities and skills includes:

  • Functional ability with microcomputer functions and requisite software packages utilized in the office, e.g., Microsoft Office, Acrobat
  • Proficient in copywriting, editing, and proofing skills for multimedia communication
  • Knowledgeable of current marketing trends
  • Knowledgeable of project management fundamentals
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to analyze and understand project objectives and discern project’s impact on the department and College
  • Ability to structure information so that it is manageable and comprehensible to readers
  • Flexibility in scheduling, etc. in order to meet immediate/unanticipated needs
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions with accuracy and composure
  • Ability to resolve impromptu problems/clients’ complaints quickly and with composure
  • Ability to work on own initiative independently and make decisions with limited supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a dynamic creative team
  • Capable of dealing with a variety of assignment simultaneously with frequent interruption of work
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
