Job Responsibilities

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Senior Director, Communications and Marketing, Strategy and Integration, within the University Communications and Marketing division to drive strategic integration, enhanced workflows, engagement models, and improved project management across the division in support of the university’s priorities. This is an opportunity for a strong marketing and communications expert with a track record of results in an agency and/ or corporate environment and a cross-section of demonstrated experience in project management, process implementation, strategy and campaign planning, integrated marketing communications, and organizational transformation. This individual will report to the Vice Chancellor of University Communications and Marketing and will partner with marketing communications Assistant Vice Chancellors to develop integrated communications plans and materials and lead or support special projects. This individual will also serve as an advisor and thought partner in conjunction with individuals at all levels of the university—from junior staff to UCM team leaders and Pitt senior executives.

Requirements

Required Skills: • Hands-on, independent working leader with excellent written and verbal communications skills. • Experienced in writing integrated marketing and communication plans and creative briefs to guide development of communication deliverables. • Relevant experience in agency and / or corporate environment responsible for developing strategy, integrated marketing campaigns and / or communications plans and deliverables. • Ability to mentor, mediate, counsel and direct the work of others, including managing direct reports. • Proven success navigating complex, sensitive issues with poise and decorum. • Outstanding project management experience, managing schedules and ensuring that projects remain on time and within budget. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred, but not mandatory. • Flexibility and comfort working in a fast-paced, collaborative, high profile environment as both an individual contributor and as a member of a team. • Strong consulting skills; demonstrated ability to work at all levels of the organization to analyze problems, recommend appropriate communication solutions, and facilitate more informed decisions.
